Dr Laljee Verma, Ph D graduated from PW Medical College, Patna in 1963 and joined the medical services of the armed forces the same year.
Having served in the forces for about 4 decades he retired in the rank of Air Mshl from the post of Dir Gen of Medical Services in Aug 2002.He was awarded Ai Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) by the President in 2001.
Has been a pioneer in India on healthcare waste management and carries with him an experience of more than 12 years in this field.
He established comprehensive biomedical waste management at Bangalore Air Force Hospital as PI of a WHO aided project (1999-2000).
He was tele- interviewed by editor GAVI (March 2000), and by Health Advances LLC, Weston, Massachusetts, USA (2010), apart from many national agencies, media, and scientific organisations.
As invited speaker, he has delivered a number of talks and lectures in the country and abroad. He was awarded Hon Fellow Indian Society of Aerospace Medicine (2001), and Founder Fellow, Indian Society of Hospital Waste Management (2011).
For his contribution to Hindi literature, he was awarded ‘Premchand Smriti Puraskar’.
